SR-207 versus SR-507

having bought other Stax products used and new i have a lot respect to the brand and the company ethos in high fidelity world.Stax are not a poor quality item as the 35 year old srx-III i have bear testament still work and sound great which leads me on to my latest purchase having tested the water with the Stax SR-207 Basic are very good earhone…but the 507 is excellent as the head frame is built to last with a bit of”bling” added for good measure and half leather earpads which feel cool on the ears adding comfort.The sound between bottom of the range is not night and day but there is that smile on your face quality realising you have not wasted your money in the diminishing returns syndrome often with hi end gear.Violins sound very sweet and feathered and double bass… everywhere and solid… human voices have extra information all round balanced. These headphones live up to their reputation and deliver they are a bargain compared to dynamic headphones…but you need a seperate dedicated amplifier like the Stax srm 323s to drive them oh and they go loud by the way 118db with no distortion!
